Whole Bean Coffee

Expect a sweet cup with a great body. You will note hints of lavender, lemon and citrus. Toffee and a bit of chocolate form a nice base.

Description

This is a superb coffee brought to us by about 2000 small holders in the Cajamarca Region of Peru. Dutch immigrants introduced coffee in the region in the mid 1700’s. The Typica variety was introduced at that time and is still the variety that dominates today. Peru began exporting coffee in 1887, but challenges abound, even now. Most farms are very small and often, the nearest town is at least 4 hours by foot with no other access. The town may then be 8 hours by truck to the nearest port.

Cenfrocafe is one of the strongest cooperatives in Peru based on quality and volume and they bring us this coffee today. This coffee is grown at an altitude of 1600-1800 meters and is a great example of heirloom production of Typica and Bourbon varieties.
