Ahhhhh…. This is the 3rd time we have purchased this specific Kenya from the Kirinyaga FCS Co-op. It’s that good!
This is a great co-op with about 1000 members that each maintain 200-250 coffee trees. Members have not only selected the varietals that work best in their area, but those varietals are among the highest scoring available and the cups produced reflect it. All are grown around 5000 feet and include varieties like SL34, Batian and Ruiru11.
This is a sweet cup, similar to past lots, and provides an excellent, slightly heavy body along with fantastic mouthfeel and flavor notes including caramel, sugarcane juice, mild milk chocolate and just a hint of tropical fruit flavors. To close it out, there is just a hint of tangy acidity—another potentially fantastic breakfast and dessert pairing!
