Description

This is a delicious coffee from the Huila region of Colombia brought to us by several thousand small producers. Many of these producers have 1 acre or less and may only have a few trees that are picked several times per year when cherries are ripe. Coffee exporting provides a major supplement to income for many individuals whose lives are based on agriculture. Coffee is one of the few crops that can be picked, processed, and packed for export and for some of the highest prices of any crop that can be produced.

The Huila region of Colombia is a simply beautiful area of the planet that presents stunning bio-diversity. The main variety of coffee grown is Caturra, which represents about 80% of production. Other varieties include Colombia, Castilo, and Typica. Trees are at about 1000-1500 meters in this region and this coffee is pulped, washed and then dried on raised beds.
